India Design ID 2025 – New Delhi
Theme: Design as Community
Takshni‘s Chorus of Solitude
The Chorus of Solitude is about listening to the song of our true self, where identity, duality, and existence converge. The Chorus of Solitude is about listening without fear; to the truths, the emotions, and the contradictions within us. It is the song of acceptance. In solitude, we do not find emptiness; we find everything we truly are.
Davait (The Duality)
Size: 6ft x 4ft x 3.5ft Material: Brass Edition: Exclusive
Artisans: Ashok, Omveer, Rehman, Saddam, Waseem, Deep, Jagdish | Consciousness as the Field of Unity True consciousness is non-dual, it holds all experiences without judgment. By depicting a man in the act of shringār, the artwork challenges binaries and allows for the integration of aspects often culturally kept apart. Here, shringar becomes a mirror of wholeness— not performance, but presence. Shringar, when done for oneself, is an intimate, exposed act. For a man to engage in it—especially in a society where strength is defined externally—is an act of radical vulnerability. In this vulnerability lies conscious courage—a decision to be seen not through armor but through authenticity. Every stroke of kohl, every piece of jewellery placed is not decoration— it is declaration. A declaration that beauty is not owned by gender, and awareness is not split by role. The man becomes conscious of his full being—not just what the world permits, but what the soul invites. In adorning himself, he does not borrow femininity—he reclaims forgotten parts of himself. |
Astitva
Size: 2ft x 2ft x 1.5ft
Material: Brass
Edition: 25
Artisans: Omveer, Deep, Jagdish | Consciousness as Inner Reflection The act of adorning oneself—when done in solitude, without performance for society—becomes a form of intimate dialogue with the self. It’s not vanity but ritual, not display but discovery. In this light, the woman becomes a mirror of consciousness—reflecting not how the world sees her, but how she chooses to see herself. She dresses not to hide, but to honour—every scar, every story, every version of herself held in quiet grace. |

We understand that we are not just existing, we are evolving, expanding, and creating meaning. This poem by Sh.Kedarnath Singh on a rotating cylinder speaks about the reality of life in Kashi, the oldest city in the world and its reality, its authenticity and its sacred identity.

About India Design ID 2025
The 2025 edition of India Design ID marked a shift toward participatory and collective approaches in design. The theme, "Design as Community," focused on how spaces and objects can foster connection, care, and inclusivity. The exhibition emphasized co-creation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and socially engaged design practices. Participating studios and brands responded with works that were process-oriented, often involving artisans, local materials, and collective narratives. The ID Symposium panels delved into subjects like design justice, community architecture, and the decolonization of aesthetics. Installations moved beyond aesthetic appeal to serve as sites of gathering, storytelling, and reflection. The 2025 edition posed critical questions about who gets to design, who benefits, and how design can serve broader social and ecological well-being.
