Jīvan Pātra – Vessels of Life (2025): Sand-Cast Brass Wall Artwork

In Gondi tradition, people are remembered as those whom the Creator sent to nourish the world. The vessels they carried — humble pots, bowls, and ladles — were more than implements of survival. They were symbols of sustenance, community, and continuity.

Each vessel was a promise: to feed, to share, to keep life flowing. Like language, food is a form of connection — carrying memory, ritual, and belonging across generations. In every offering of grain or water lies a story, a gesture of care, a dialogue without words.

This artwork reimagines the vessels of the Gonds as metaphors of humanity’s purpose: to nourish body and spirit, to preserve memory through ritual, and to keep alive the unspoken language of food. They remind us that feeding is not just survival, but an act of devotion — a way of speaking to one another and to the divine.
